A 40 year-old mother, Monsurat Ayinde, has been charged to court on a three-count charge of conspiracy, assault and breach of peace, as she allegedly sent some thugs to beat her child’s teachers in a secondary school.
Ayinde, before an Abeokuta magistrate’s court yesterday pleaded not guilty to the charges. Chief Magistrate Adeola Adelaja, however, released her on N200,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Sunday Eigbejiale, who told the court that Ayinde committed the crime on July 20 at 11a.m. at Saje High School, Abeokuta. As the woman engaged some thugs, who noisily entered the school and beat up six teachers.
According to Eigbejiale, Ayinde acted in retaliation, because a teacher whipped her child, leaving her with bruises. The accused hit a teacher, Mr. Monsuru Kusimo, on his left eye and injured him.
He said the accused plotted with others and caused a breach of peace of the school by interrupting its activities.
The offences are contrary to Sections 249, 351, 355, and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006. The magistrate adjourned the case till August 22 for hearing.
