After eighteen years of providing professional broadcasting to its teeming listeners, the management and staff of Nigeria’s first and only all-sports radio station, 88.9 Brila FM is celebrating the company’s anniversary today, October 1, pleasantly coinciding with the nation’s 60th Independence Day anniversary.
Known for its pace-setting innovations and dependability in the business of sports broadcasting, the station has continually confirmed its panache as an unbeatable platform for sports news, aside from being a hub for the massive engagement of fans daily across the country with its unique caller-centric style.
Headquartered in Lagos with branches in Abuja, Kaduna, and Onitsha, the station has extended its sportainement culture into the digital space by creating an online home for followers through its vintage brila.net website alongside well known and highly engaging social media handles.
Brila FM was founded on October 1, 2002, by ace broadcaster, Dr. Larry Izamoje as Nigeria’s first and only sports radio station. Licensed by the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, Brila FM has three sister stations located in Abuja, Kaduna, and Onitsha. During the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the station was appointed as one of the three lead broadcast partners by Optima Sports Management International.
