Cyriel Dessers says he is delighted to represent Nigeria at the international level after making his debut on Tuesday.
Dessers played his first game for Nigeria on Tuesday since switching allegiance from Belgium last back in January.
The KRC Genk forward was introduced in the second half of the clash against Tunisia in Austria, although he was unable to score on his debut, Dessers said it was a proud moment for him to finally play international football for Nigeria.
“Proud and honoured to represent a big football nation like Nigeria. Proud to be a Super Eagle 🇳🇬🦅 #SoarSuperEagles ” he said.
Born to a Belgian father and a Nigerian mother, Dessers bursted into the scene last season when he finished as joint top scorer in the 2019-2020 Dutch Eredivisie season with Heracles.
The 25-year-old attracted interest from Belgium and Netherlands, but Nigeria was able to convince him to join the Super Eagles.
