Plateau United head coach Abdu Maikaba said he’s working hard to get his 40-man squad fit and ready for the season, after a 2-0 defeat to Niger Tornadoes in a pre-season Tournament.
Maikaba attributed his team’s lacklustre performance to lack of match fitness.
“I am very happy about the result of the game despite the fact that we lost because we have seen some lapses which we have to go back and work on.
“It is a problem of fitness. This happened because of the protests that we encountered in Jos. We trained only twice before travelling.”
“The result will help us to prepare for the next game. We have 40 players on ground and want to give everyone game time,” the Plateau United Boss noted.
He had words of praise for Tornadoes before adding that “our minds are now fully focused on the remaining games.
