Sodje urges Rohr not to play Semi Ajayi in Midfield

Former Super Eagles defender, Sam Sodje has stated that Semi Ajayi shouldn’t be played in the midfield but should be used to strengthen the back four of the Super Eagles team.

Sodje, speaking in a chat with brila.net stated that playing Ajayi from the midfield will be a bad formation for the team. The former Reading defender stressed that the best the coach can do is strengthen the defense with the West Brom player.

“I am a fan and I will talk like one, I don’t think he (Semi Ajayi) is a midfielder and should be played as such, he is a good friend of mine but i don’t think playing him from the midfield is the best thing for him and the team.”

“He is a good defender and i think he should be played at the back, couple of games he played from the midfield he wasn’t that good at the midfield and I stand with others that suggested the same thing about him remaining at the back four in the team hopefully, he can listen to us and find a midfielder for the team.”

The tall lanky defender was played from the midfield during the last two friendlies against Algeria and Tunisia but many believed he didn’t leave up to expectations due to him played out of his natural position.
