Nigeria’s minister of youth and Sports Development, Hon. Sunday Dare has stated that the new NPFL season will commence fully before the end of 2020.
Dare over the weekend revealed this development to newsmen in Lagos during his inspection tour to the Surulere national stadium Lagos.
The Minister said he has spoken to the Nigeria football federation president Amaju Melvin Pinnick and also to the relevant government agencies before making the confirmation.
He further stated that they have also reached the club owners as to these new regulations concerning the Npfl, same way the processes were enforced before the female league commenced, the same applications will be meted to the Npfl league, he said.
“If you want your club to play, you must follow the football rules, I’m sorry that’s why that league hasn’t started, I am glad the female league has started I said it earlier on the same thing with the female league as well, if we end up with six serious clubs we will start the league.”
“We have written to the government owners of these clubs and we had explained now, we are in a new enforcement regime which is critical and how we are able to sustained that enforcement I hope and we have spoken to the NFF.”
“I spoke to Amaju that, before this year ends our professional league must start,” he said.
