Sunshine Stars boss, Gbenga Ogunbote says his team is a work in progress after their slim win over FC Ifeanyi Ubah on Sunday.
Omojesu Ogunniyi’s sublime free-kick gave Sunshine Stars their first three points of the 2020-2021 NPFL season at the Ondo State Sports Complex.
Ogunbote’s side missed several chances to double their lead against an Ifeanyi Ubah, who themselves didn’t offer too much going forward all through the match.
While sharing his thoughts on the game, Ogunbote said he’s happy they got the needed three points, but regretted the inability of his attackers to kill off the game much earlier.
“We are happy we are able to get the three points, it will remove some sort of pressure away from the team. Disappointed we did not take most of our chances, we should be three goals up. We will do some talking and corrections so it will be better next time.” He said after the game.
Ogunbote, who is in his second spell at the club, also said the team is a work in progress and begged for understanding from the fans.
“I want to canvass for understanding, understanding in the sense that we are still a team in the making and as a result the fans have to be patient with us.”
Sunshine Stars will play MFM in the first of the 2020/21 season Southwest derby on matchday three at the Soccer Temple.
