Super Eagles goalkeeper, Daniel Akpeyi was the hero as Kaizer Chiefs booked their place in CAF Champions League next round on Tuesday.
Akpeyi ‘s heroic was enough to the send Chiefs into the group phase at the expense of their hosts C.D. Primeiro de Agosto.
C.D. Primeiro de Agosto started as the better side, but fantastic individual performance from Akpeyi stopped them from going in front.
The former Chippa United pulled off a great save to stop his side from going behind in the 8th minute.
Akpeyi was called upon again in the 27th minute and this time, he kept out an effort from C.D. Primeiro de Agosto’s striker Bua.
Akpeyi’s heroic finally paid off when Kaizer Chief scored the decisive goal in the 41st minute through Leonardo Castro.
Kaizer Chiefs however defended their lead in the second half and secured a 0-1 away victory.
The first-leg ended goalless in December, but Amakhosi progressed into the group stage of the competition with a 1-0 aggregate win.
