MRI Test Saga : Garba Lawal urges Golden Eaglets to remain calm

Ex international, Garba Lawal says the Golden Eaglets are parading the youngest squad at the ongoing WAFU championship and will surely pass the MRI scan.

Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets touched down in Togo on Sunday, but they are yet to undergo the compulsory Resonance Imaging (MRI) scans to test the players’ eligibility, with few hours into their opening group game against Ivory Coast on Wednesday.

In a statement signed by the Golden Eaglets’ media officer, Francis Achi on Tuesday night, he alleged that a possible conspiracy from the organizers could be the reason the boys haven’t been allowed to undergo the test, while their opponents Ivory Coast that arrived late have been cleared.

In his response to the saga, Garba Lawal said such antics are expected in a major championship, but he advised the players and the entire technical crew to remain focus.

“I believe the WAFU officials knows better than you and I, maybe they don’t have enough machines for the test, but then whether we like it or not Nigeria must play tomorrow ( Wednesday).

“The most important thing is for the players to pass the test, if they like let them do it before the game.

“When you are coming into a tournament, you have to expect a lot of things, but I hope the boys can put all that behind and play a good game,” He said.

Meanwhile Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets will play against Baby Elephants in their group opener later this evening.
