Shorunmu relishes 2013 AFCON triumph eight years after

Former Nigeria international and 2013 AFCON winning goalkeeper trainer Ike Shorunmu has stated that he still relishes the memory of winning the Africa cup of nations in South Africa 2013 after Wednesday 10th February 2021 marked exactly eight years since Nigeria last triumphed at the biennial soccer showpiece.
He added that the thought of the cup also brings back the memory of the absence of then-coach Late Stephen Keshi.
“Looking back now eight years ago just like yesterday and today now my good friend Late Keshi is no more, everybody has his own destiny, maybe as a player I’m not destined to win the cup because in 2000 in Lagos we were closed to winning the cup but due to some errors from the referee canceling Ikpeba’s penalty goal. God just used that one to crown me to win the cup in 2013 as a coach and I take it the way it comes.”
