British boxer Amir Khan has apologised to Anthony Joshua over his allegations that the 27-year-old was sleeping with his wife, Faryal during a social media outburst.
Khan took to Twitter to announce his split from his wife of four years, Faryal before he went on to vent his rage, accusing her of sleeping with his fellow boxer in his series of tweets.
Initially, Anthony Joshua reacted to the claims with a hilarious post using popular reggae artist, Shaggy’s line ‘its wasn’t me ‘ but there are reports that the heavyweight champion’s representatives have taken the issue serious and even threatened legal action against Khan.
Khan and his wife has now gone on social media to apologise for the ‘fake’ ‘lies’ in series of tweets which read:’I’ve been quiet for some time… because I myself didn’t know what’s going on. Everything that’s going on is just not right and a complete misunderstanding.
‘The screenshots sent to Amir were “fake” and Amir thought Joshua and I were speaking… when we have never even met. Anger took the better of him and he tweeted away without thinking there was absolutely NO truth to it.
‘It’s all cleared up with both teams now and again, there was NOTHING like that going on. Apologies for all this nonsense. Let’s get on with life now…’
Amir then retweeted his wife’s note, then personally messaged Joshua, adding: ‘Glad all is cleared up and all lies. I got angry like any man would. No truth to it. Good to know. All the best.’
The British heavyweight champion would later reply to Khan, writing: ‘Apology accepted.’
