Arsenal will welcome Leicester City to the Emirates in a Premier League opener at 7:45pm (Nigerian time) in what could be a match that will usher in the new season with lot of crackers and suspense-filled encounters.
Ahead of the game, the Foxes have had to deal with injuries to several players(Danny Drinkwater, Robert Huth and Vincent Iborra) while Arsenal also have their own fair share of injury worries with the likes of Mesut Ozil, Aaron Ramsey, Alexis Sanchez and Jack Wilshere all missing for the game.
What the managers are saying:
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said: “We’re well prepared and ready for a fight. Ambitious as well.
“We have to do more [this season]. The target is very difficult to set. You can interview seven to eight managers who say they want to win the Premier League. Let’s just focus on ourselves. How strong are the other teams? I don’t know. It’s very hard to predict.”
Leicester City boss, Craig Shakespeare said: ‘The Premier League is the most competitive league in the world and Arsenal are one of the best clubs in it, year after year they’ve shown their consistency,
‘We haven’t been able to beat them yet but there’s always a first time and it would be nice to think it would be Friday night. The players are champing at the bit to get started.
