Controversial comedian, Chidi Uzoma aka Baba De Baba, has wrapped up the production of his soon to be released skit where he featured his dad as a part of the cast. The comedian in a chat with GreeNNewsNG’s Daniel Fayemi revealed that his father, Martins Uzoma, who was against his decision to go into comedy has since changed his mind about his prospects since he started making money.
Explaining why he did not have his dad’s blessing to become a comedian, Baba De Baba said that his old man wanted him to be an engineer. He also said that his dad didn’t make money from making cartoon books in his hey day hence his reluctance to see his son tow an unprofitable path.
He said, “I took the jokes from his book… He used to cartoon books then but he didn’t want me to do it because he didn’t make money from it but now I am making money from it by the grace of God and my dad is now proud of my career projection.”
The comedian said that he enjoyed working with his dad on set as it afforded him the opportunity to spend quality time with him. He said that he also enjoyed being the boss.
In the Igbo comedy skit, Baba De Baba’s dad played the role of a landlord whose tenants were a mix of Yorubas and Igbos. He had no love for his Yoruba tenants but couldn’t evict them because they paid their rents and utility bills on time while the Igbo tenants he loved were giving him major problems in the compound.
