Voter Registration: Governor Ugwuanyi Fires Executive Assistants

Governor of Enugu state, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, has sacked his executive assistants from Enugu North Senatorial District over their failure to mobilise residents to participate in the ongoing continuous voter registration (CVR) carried out by the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Governor Ugwuanyi publicly sacked the affected aides at the Enugu North Senatorial District Committee meeting of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Nsukka on Saturday.

Governor Ugwanyi, who noted that the CVR exercise was crucial to the success of the PDP at the polls, decried the lack of efforts by the executive assistants in driving support for the state government’s efforts in sensitising Enugu residents to register ahead of the upcoming 2019 elections.

“The ongoing voter registration is the key, it is very important to us. It is beyond the election. It is about all of us. Unfortunately, the EAs appointed to drive this campaign for the government at the grassroots have not done much in terms of sensitisation and mobilisation. I hereby declare their positions vacant in Enugu North Senatorial District”, he declared.
